Mission:
To
promote breast health and
support young breast cancer survivors.
Vision:
Young women leading long, healthy and productive lives.
Foundation History:
Jana Peters, founder of the Ribbons of Pink Foundation was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 at the age of 27. Jana's concern with the lack of sufficient information available about breast cancer in young women was the catalyst for her starting the organization.
The Ribbons of Pink Foundation was founded in 1999 and was a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) organization for several years. In September 2005, the foundation transitioned from a stand-alone organization and into a Fund of the Greater Kansas City Foundation.
Sadly, Jana died on December 9, 2006, after an eight year fight against breast cancer and a courageous life lived with it.
The foundation is led by an advisory board and remains an active part of the breast cancer community, supporting young breast cancer survivors in Kansas City and beyond.
